How to Get to Tunis?

  • Passport and Visa:
    Ensure that your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your planned stay. Depending on your nationality, you may or may not require a visa for entry into Tunisia, so please check the specific requirements before traveling. Citizens from these countries (including the European Union, Eastern Europe, USA, Australia, Brazil, Japan, and more) do not need a visa for entry into Tunisia.
    Chinese nationals can obtain a visa upon arrival at the airport, provided they have a conference invitation and a hotel reservation voucher for their stay.
    Nationals of other countries can apply for a Tourist visa.
    If you need an invitation letter for your visa application, please request one by emailing slim.kallel@fsegs.usf.tn. Ensure that you are registered for the conference before making this request, and include proof of your registration. When requesting the invitation letter, kindly provide the following details:
    • Full name as shown in your passport
    • Date of birth
    • Complete address and phone number
    • E-mail address
    • Professional or student status proof
    • Passport number, expiration date and country where issued.

  • Flight Booking:
    Tunis-Carthage International Airport (TUN) is the closest airport to Gammarth and is more conveniently located than Enfidha and Monastir airports. Direct and connecting flights are available from many major cities worldwide.

  • Transfer to Gammarth:
    • Contacting the Travel Agency: Artours handles all transfer requests between the airport and your hotel. Simply send your request along with your flight details and reference number. The transfer rate is 15€ /person/way (30€ both ways).
    • Taxi or Private Transfer: After exiting the arrivals area, you will find licensed taxis waiting outside the terminal. It is recommended to use a metered taxi or arrange a private transfer through your hotel. The drive to Gammarth takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes and costs around 30 TND (Tunisian dinars).
    • BOLT Mobile Application: Alternatively, you can use the BOLT mobile application.
    • Car Rental: If you prefer to drive, car rental services are available at the airport. Major international car rental companies operate at Tunis-Carthage. After renting a car, take the N9 highway towards Gammarth, following the road signs.


    General Information

  • Language: Arabic is the official language, but French and English are also widely spoken.
  • Currency: The currency is the Tunisian dinar (TND). You can exchange currency at the airport or use ATMs to withdraw local cash.
  • Safety: Gammarth is a well-developed tourist area and is generally considered safe for visitors.
  • Temperature: In December, Tunis enjoys mild temperatures, typically ranging from 10°C to 18°C (50°F to 64°F), providing a pleasant escape from the winter chill.
